Fashion artist Igmar — editorial portrait surrounded by wearable art creations

    The Artist

    The Artist Behind
    the Crown

Igmar's path as an artist has always moved at the edge of visual expression. Having studied Fashion Design in San Francisco, her early career spanned fashion design, wardrobe/costume creation, and high-level makeup artistry across Caracas and North America, including work with major networks like Univision and Telemundo.

During the pandemic, a period of creative reflection drew her to Tulum, Mexico. It was there, immersed in Tulum's expressive hat culture, that Igmar recognized the hat not merely as an accessory, but as a three-dimensional canvas waiting for sculptural transformation.

Today, IGMAR STYLE represents the culmination of that evolution: one-of-one wearable art pieces created with unexpected textiles, found objects, dimensional paint, repurposed jewelry, and high-fashion intuition.

    From faces to canvas.

Before hats became her canvas, Igmar spent years transforming faces. Professional makeup artistry—particularly in the high-pressure environment of television production—taught her to read a subject instantly, to understand how color, light, and texture interact with a living surface, and to create visual impact under constraints.

Wardrobe and costume work deepened her understanding of how garments carry personality, how materials drape and behave, and how a single piece can define an entire look. Fashion design training provided the technical vocabulary: construction, proportion, textile behavior, color theory.

When she encountered the hat culture of Tulum, these disciplines converged. The hat was not a new medium—it was the medium that finally allowed everything she knew about color, texture, transformation, and visual storytelling to come together on a single, three-dimensional, wearable surface.

    The Hat as Canvas

During the pandemic, creative reflection drew Igmar to Tulum, Mexico. Immersed in the expressive hat culture of the region, she recognized the hat not as an accessory but as a three-dimensional canvas waiting for sculptural transformation.

    Artistic Philosophy

Every material carries history. Every texture tells a story. When Igmar begins a new piece, she is not simply decorating a hat—she is composing a visual narrative on a three-dimensional canvas. The process is instinctive. Color speaks first. Texture follows. Composition emerges through layering, trial, and artistic intuition refined over years of creative practice across fashion, makeup artistry, costume design, and now wearable sculpture.

Igmar does not work from templates. She does not follow trends. She does not create collections in the seasonal fashion sense. Each piece is born from a specific moment—a convergence of available materials, a color that demands attention, a texture that cannot be ignored, and the instinct to combine them into something that has not existed before.

The maximalist approach is not chaos. It is controlled abundance. Every chain, every stone, every ornamental detail, every textural layer is placed with intention. The richness of the final piece is the result of dozens of deliberate creative decisions, not the random accumulation of embellishments. This is what separates wearable artfrom decoration: intention, composition, and the artist's hand visible in every layer.

The result is never predictable. And that is precisely the point.
